IBPS PO examination scheduled for 19, 20, 26, 27 Oct 2013

Eligibility Criteria

Education

A degree (graduation) Computer Literacy is not mandatory

Age limit

20 to 30 years (refer blog entry – ‘Update on IBPS PO 2013’ in our blog)

Stages of Selection

1. Written Exam 5 papers with the total 200 marks as shown below –

  1. Reasoning – 50
  2. English Language – 40
  3. Quantitative Aptitude – 50
  4. General Awareness – 40
  5. Computer Knowledge – 20

Additional points to note –

  • Total 2 hours is given for answering 5 papers
  • General Awareness is with reference to Banking Industry
  • There is 0.25 negative marks per incorrect answer
  • IPBS is moving towards conducting the examination online
  • Candidates will need to achieve minimum score per paper and minimum total score for getting shortlisted for the next stage – the interview
  • It is interesting to note that IBPS has done away with ‘Descriptive Paper on English Composition’ which required essay-type responses, potentially due to the move to gradually move to online-only exam format.
2. Interview Candidates passing the Written Exam will be shortlisted for interview conducted by the Participating Organisations. 
3. Allotment On completion of the Interview process, depending upon the vacancies available, candidates will be allotted to one of the participating organisations. 

How to prepare for the exam

Books

Many books are available in book stores for as low as Rs. 200/- to Rs. 550/-. These provide excellent input to those candidates who can prepare on their own.

Classroom Sessions

Many small institutions conduct classroom sessions in the evenings and over the weekends at convenient timings.
