UCBs have a strategic role in housing finance, particularly for weaker sections, aligning with priority sector lending objectives. UCBs, especially larger banks with surplus resources, are encouraged to extend housing loans. The Master Circular on Housing Finance for UCBs consolidates the instructions/guidelines issued to UCBs till 2 April, 2024.
